John Hammond should have died at the end ofJurassic Parkand Steven Spielberg ’s decisiveness not to kill him smash the message of the movie ’s ending . Played by Richard Attenborough with the variety of misty - eyed exuberance his natural historian pal David would be proud of , Hammond is , of course , the motor force behind Jurassic Park . The entire endeavor is based on his vision and his dream to give everyone something rightfully tremendous .

In Michael Crichton ’s original novel , John Hammond is a significantly less likable character , dim all by his aspiration ( and his greed ) and fatally illiterate of the disaster that his park becomes around him . The book version of the quality does n’t survive the   story , dying at the tiny claws of a   flock   of Procompsognathus ( Compies ) as he contemplates his program for opening a new park only a short time after thedeath of   Mr. Arnold . His movie similitude is soft at the edge , but he remain just as driven and there is a substantial spark of his blind ambition in him .

How Rachel Zegler’s

Steven Spielberg ’s adaption ofJurassic Parklets John Hammond off all too easy , allowing him the chance to wrick his back on his park by the goal and humorously commit his endorsement of Jurassic Park as the survivor take flight . ButJurassic Parkshould have followed through on killing Hammond because his destruction was still deserved , and   the ending was poor for changing his fate .

John Hammond Should Be The Second Villain Of Jurassic Park

John Hammond is not as much of a villain asJurassic World ’s   Vic Hoskins ( Vincent D’Onofrio ) , but he shares the same thing that gets Hoskins killed : an insatiate ambitiousness that basically disrespects nature . Both wish to exploit the dinosaurs , albeit in different fashion and both would likely follow through on fabulously dangerous aspirations were it not for dramatic deterrent . Hoskins dies for his sin , but Hammond is allowed to live on because he ’s represent by Richard Attenborough and because Steven Spielberg desire to result the door heart-to-heart to him return in the continuation . Which he did for a very tenuous cameo , revealing his redemption as a naturalist who believed his dinosaurs should be left to live freely onIsla Sornabut that was n’t enough .

Early storyboards forJurassic Parkactually revealed initial design to have Hammond killed in a velociraptor attack , but the chronological succession did n’t make it to the final motion-picture show . That reprieve meant Hammond is never lend to jurist for his negative influence onDennis Nedry , who turns to the desperate measures of steal conceptus because of fiscal trouble that Hammond wilfully disregard . Even when Hammond has his supposed buyback moment when eat chicken feed cream with Ellie Satler in the Visitor Center , Hammond give onto the estimate of launch a fresh park with " more control " up to the very last moment . It ’s only when he ’s call on the carpet by Satler that he seems to change path , but   having him change his heart after holding onto a dreaming since he was a youngster does n’t surround dead on target .

Why John Hammond Should Have Died In Jurassic Park

Jurassic Parkis a morality narrative about anxiousness over humanity ’s over - hand fascination with science . It is a mod Frankenstein tale and in such stories , those who " play God " and do not honor the born ordination - who " destroy God " in the row ofJeff Goldblum ’s Dr. Ian Malcolmshould be killed for their defiance . That they have grandchild they do n’t want to be eaten by dinosaurs   should n’t come into it .

In not killing him , Spielberg gives Hammond what number to a smack on the wrist for his rebelliousness of the natural order and his unwillingness to hear his moral . TheoriginalJurassic Parkending , as write by Michael Crichton , would have offered a far more satisfying conclusion to Hammond ’s fixation with his magical flea carnival that had cost so many living . And that ’s not to bring up the irony that a valet de chambre so obsessed with the estimate of ascendence ( even after his supposed " redemption moment " over ice ointment ) would be kill by the smallest of his dinosaurs .

In the end , we do get to see John Hammond ’s Christian Bible decease , in a direction , because the tantrum was rescue from the clipping room storey and re - work for the decease of Dieter Stark ( Peter Stormare ) inThe lose humanity : Jurassic Park . lamentably , because Stormare ’s case is little more than a oink - whose death comes as he ’s ease himself in the forest - it has small impact other than in comical terms and the subsequence barely gives him a 2d thought . It should have been Hammond and it should have amount as part of the ending ofJurassic Park .
