Not only were there times the teen seemed to act out of character , but there are moments where Ellie ’s actions made zero good sense or were just downright frustrating for the player to determine ( and have to act out ) .
Players were expecting to see Ellie all grown up inThe Last of Us : Part 2,especially after the character ’s journey and growth in theoriginalThe Last of Us . While they did get to see her hit certain milestones that add up with age – falling in love for the first time , losing a parent , starting a folk – not everything about who Ellie has become now that she ’s older is sitting right with fans .

Throughout the entirety ofThe Last of Us : Part 2’sstory , Ellie acts egotistically . She puts her own wants and desires before her loved ones . Granted , it ’s understandable that Ellie may not be act like her common ego give that she just lose her only parental figure , but it does n’t give her the right to represent without any consequences . And , candidly , it ’s dubitable that many of her choices would ’ve made Joel majestic .
Why TLOU2’s Ellie Was A Disappointment
During her entire quest to hunt down the WLF members responsible for Joel ’s death , rather than being interest about the well - being of her champion , Ellie was narrowly focus on find the foes so she could take them out . When Dina tell her she ’s pregnant , rather than establish arrangements to take Dina back to the settlement , Ellie continues to prolong her mission . She leave Dina in the desert theatre , which Ellie constantly reminds everyone is a dependable smear – that is untilThe Last of Us 2’sother playable graphic symbol Abbyso easily manages to track them down . Even Jesse see that Dina needs to go back to Jackson County deliberate her condition , and had prompted Ellie to do so before he died . But Ellie win over him to stay and give her more meter by emphasizing that the safety of Tommy is on the occupation .
In fact , Ellie utilise Tommy as an self-justification several times throughout the game to carry on try her retaliation on the wildcat . After all , Tommy ’s absence seizure was the whole reasonableness she win over Dina to join her on the delegacy , and how she got Jesse and Maria to help oneself her . But it felt like there was little Ellie was doing to actually bring in Tommy back to base hit . If so , she would n’t have prioritize killing the WLF member inThe Last of Us 2 , and rather would ’ve focalise all of her zip on tracking him down . That ’s something that Joel would ’ve wanted , too , consider it was his brother .
in conclusion , what also piss Ellie one of the worst fictitious character inThe Last of Us : Part 2is how she so easy abandons her family . When Tommy give way her a lead on Abby ’s whereabouts , Ellie wastes trivial sentence leaving in the middle of the night . This efficaciously made Dina a single mom and left baby J.J. without two parents . Ellie has been in electric shock the entire game trying to process how she lost Joel , so it ’s ironic in the death that she ’s make J.J. to recede a parent by desert him . It seems she did n’t take her parenting obligation very seriously , pass that she knew Dina would get out her if she went , thereby puttingDina and J.J. ’s livesat risk . Moreover , this makes it all the more confusing when she finally excuse Abby . Ellie had given up everything – her friends and household – to be in that moment so she could kill Abby . But , in the end , everything she did and sacrificed ferment out not to be deserving it .
In the end , not even Ellie could saveThe Last of Us : Part 2from itself , and one could even debate that Ellie ’s actions contribute to why this game has become so controversial .
