However , Roy ’s dead body is nowhere near the physical point of Bruce ’s , and he dies on the chore , guide the whole humanity to believe Batman is utter . The whole world … except for Gordon .
You see , Gordon had antecedently seen Roy Kane and Batman in the same room , so when the corpse of Batman is unmasked to reveal Roy ’s face , Gordon knows something is up . He blab out to Bruce Wayne and let out what he knows . The injured Bruce ask where Gordon thinks the literal Batman is , and Gordon replies“I do n’t bed . injure , maybe,”then says,“If [ Batman ] wanted to hang it all up … I would n’t stick out in his fashion … I think he ’s earned a rest if he want it . We owe him that much . ”
While Gordon does n’t explicitly say he think Bruce is Batman , the import in their exchanges is pretty clear . After all , Batman ’s absence seizure right after Bruce ’s harm , and his subsequent death and unmask as Roy Kane ( when Gordon already get it on Roy was n’t Batman ) is only explicable if Bruce Wayne is really Batman and Roy was just filling in . But Gordon prove his dedication by not say it outright and allowing Bruce to decide what the future of Batman will be . We see something similar inThe Dark Knight Rises . When Blake asks Gordon if he ever wanted to experience whoBatmanreally was , Gordon just smile and says , “ I sleep together exactly who he was . He was the Batman . ”
