2020’sThorseries by Donny Cates has been teasing a muscular new adversary for the God of Thunder called theBlack Wintersince the first issue . Excitement surrounding this new opposer led to promote sales for the series and plenty of speculation from buff , but now it seems that the Black Winter was no more than a red herring , as the villain has apparently perished in only the 6th issue .
Thor#1 , released back in January , was a somewhat wild start to the serial . Thor has all but retired from hero - employment and taken his place as the novel King of Asgard , but his peaceable sovereignty is interrupted when a wounded Galactus lands on Asgard essay help . Galactus informs Thor of the Black Winter , a sentient whizz pest capable of destroying intact world . Thor#2 even shows the Black Winter decimating what isstrongly implied to be the DC universe .

The Black Winter reveals thatGalactus was actually oncehisheraldand he ’s come to collect the debt Galactus owe him - his liveliness . Galactus denies this , but even still , the " Devourer of Worlds " is n’t exactly guiltless , so Thor kill him , establish just how muscular he ’s become in the mental process . In fact , Thor has become so powerful that even the Black Winter , a being capable of world-wide destruction , is manifestly no compeer for him . The God of Thunder let loose all the power he took from Galactus and then some , and all that ’s exit of the Black Winter is a single snowflake - but that snowflake provide a foreboding glimpse of what ’s to come .
The Black Winter is adequate to of showing those who look into it how they perish , and the last affair it did was show Thor an paradigm of Thanos wielding Mjolnir embedded with the Infinity Stones and anarmy of undead heroes and villains behind him . This is afterLoki was also shown pick up Mjolnir , meaning the enchantment Odin cast on the hammer may be fading .
Regardless , Thor#6 pulled a Greco-Roman bait and switch ; with the Black Winter seemingly defeated , it looks like the Mad Titan is now the serial publication ’ main threat … or is he ?
