Alliterative name and comical books go hired man in hand . DC   has Clark Kent , Lois Lane , Lex Luthor , Billy Batson , Wonder Woman , et al . And the fabled Stan Lee was a fan of the practice session too , with hero like Sue Storm , Matt Murdock , Bruce Banner , and the unforgettableSpider - Manhimself , Peter Palmer . Wait . What ?

It ’s true . In Spidey ’s very first solo record , 1963’sThe Amazing Spider - Man # 1 , Stan Lee misnamed the Friendly Neighborhood Spider - Man as Peter Palmer alternatively of Parker . Not only that , he did it not once , not double , butthreetimes in the storySpider - Man Vs . the Chameleon! But what ’s curious , is that this gaff happened in the second story of the ledger . The issue ’s first report , simply titledSpider - Man , correctly name the character with his proper spelling at least five clock time .

Before his passage , Lee had run on record acknowledge that his memory was abominable and that he found the alliteration as an easy way torecall his graphic symbol ' names :

" So I finally figured out , if I could give somebody a name , where the last name and the first name start with the same letter , like Peter Parker , Bruce Banner , Matt Murdock , then if I could commemorate one name , it give me a clue what the other one was , I knew it would set about with the same missive . "

And in Lee ’s Department of Defense , he was proper that the proficiency helped him remember the first letter . It was just the relief of the name he could have used a like illusion for . Also , neither creative person   Steve Ditko or letterer John Duffi - not to name the book ’s editor in chief - picked up on the error either .

It ’s also deserving remember   this is Spider - Man ’s first solo record book and only his 2d   show ever , follow his debut in ( Amazing Fantasy # 15 )   so Peter Parker was n’t the household name that   he is today . Also , mistakes like thesearen’t terribly uncommon . Frank Miller’sDaredevil # 168misspelled Elektra ’s name ( as Elecktra ) right on the cover of her unveiling subject andAction Comics # 598apparently forgot where Superman lives , with its screening order he send for " Metroplis " home plate . But it ’s still funny to think nobody catch the error , especially   when he would go on to be one of Marvel ’s flagship characters . And it ’s not exclusive to comics , either . you’re able to find similarmissteps in the MCU as well .

At the ending of the day , nobody is pure - not even Stan " The Man " Lee - and mistakes happen , meaning this   is just a silly   footnote in comic account . Even with his beginning rhyme trick , mind farts are bound to find .   So Stan slightly slipped scriptingSpider - Man ’s closed book .   Sorry , assistant . Stan ’s Spidey Senses plainly seemed somewhat subdued .
