The search for Silas led most of the main character , include Rebekah , to a remote island off the coast of Nova Scotia , but it was Katherine Pierce who succeeded in retrieving the curative and free Silas . Bonnie Bennetteventually defeated the ancient witch , encasing him in Harlan Stone ( he escaped following Bonnie ’s expiry ) . Damon Salvatore commit the cure to Elena Gilbert , who shoved it down Katherine ’s throat . Silas drain it from Katherine , and when Stefan Salvatore kill Silas , the therapeutic went with him . Rebekah agreed to marryMarcel Gerardas long as he accepted she would grow honest-to-goodness and die , although this mean her lifelong compliments of have children would go unrealized . Fans may have wonder just how long Rebekah would have to look to get to live a human life . While Klaus ' gesture reinforced how much he had changed for the better since his early Day onThe Vampire Diaries , it also highlighted the complicated nature of the therapeutic and how it worked .
