TheKingpinwas one of the first people to be transfer from one proportion to another , and he found himself stranded in Metropolis . He took advantage of this new universe to chuck his repute as a vicious mastermind , and swiftly raised a modest fortune - believably through villainous means . Superman had probably done a good Book of Job of clearing out all Metropolis ' low - floor criminals , but he was somewhat distract by the A - secret plan , so Kingpin would have had an easy sentence of it . And then , in a hilarious game twist , Kingpin corrupt the Daily Planet . He promptly kindle Perry White and rent another refugee from the Marvel Universe -J Jonah Jameson . Jameson , for his part , jumped at the chance to work the Daily Planet into the next Daily Bugle , and promptly hired some conversant face … admit one Peter Parker .
The conniption was set for what could easily have been one of the most entertaining team - ups in comic book history , with Peter Parker and Clark Kent run together against the Kingpin . Hilariously , the two were wary of exposing themselves to one another , and as a result both desperately avoid suiting up . Sadly , though , the hope of this squad - up was never action . TheDC Versus Marvelevent rumbled on , mostly blank out these B- and C - degree plots in favor of superhero fistfight .
In the end , Kingpin was deposed by Superboy and Spider - Man , with the Boy of Steel threaten Kingpin into selling the Planet once again . Then the population separated , the various hero and villains returning to their own realities , and the whole escapade was forgotten . But , for a little scrap , Kingpin was one ofSuperman’sbiggest menace . It can only go down as one of the worst neglect opportunities in comic strip .
