As of now , The New Mutantshas gain $ 7 million in its opening weekend domestically , making for the openhanded haul since the theaters that are candid did so .
Even set up aside its release during the pandemic , the motion-picture show has n’t been without contestation . Some of it has involved Zaga ’s Sunspot , with many accusingThe New Mutantsof hush up the fiber . In the comics , Sunspot is typically limn as darker skinned , which readers have been quick to show out . New Mutantsco - God Almighty Bob McLeodeven weighed in this week , voice his disappointment at Sunspot ’s lighter tegument . However , despite the controversy hem in the motion picture , some are still hoping for a subsequence , or at least for some of the reference to show up in future Marvel movie .
