She said that they aim to take a step back and absorb what Geroge Lucas had created , but this has also given them a prospect to meet with different filmmakers and hear their pitches on futureStar Warsproperties . When asked about whether they would hire more womanhood in the future , Kennedy allege , " It ’s absolutely a priority . '' She went on to specifically name theCandymandirector saying , “ I was really sad because I love Nia DaCosta , who was just announced to do Captain Marvel [ 2 ] . She ’s another manager I ’ve been watching , and I think she ’s enormously talented . ”
However , just because DaCosta is directing a Marvel picture does not mean that she can not direct aStar Warsfilm in the future . A noted example of someone doing both is Taika Waititi , who in plus to directing and voicing a character inThe Mandalorian , is develop aStar Warsfilm projectwith Lucasfilm and directingThor : Love and Thunderfor Marvel .
