Batmandiscovers Gotham City ’s new Monstertown in this week’sDetective Comics#1026 - and swiftly discoversKiller Crocis its mayor . Let ’s face it , nobody risk - averse would ever choose to last in Gotham City . Where most city enjoy ( or endure ) spring , summertime , fall , and wintertime , Gotham tends to have a cycle of escalating furiousness that periodically lead to the metropolis being overrun by some costumed lunatic or another . Last year Bane dumbfound to take over Gotham for a while ; this class it ’s the Joker ’s turn .
The Clown Prince of Crime has certainly done a just job in the " Joker War " bow . This is envisioned as the Joker ’s end game against the Batman , with the Joker systematically assault all member of the Bat - Family . Worse still , Joker has successfully stolen the Wayne fortune , and he ’s counteract the GCPD from this newfound position of wealth and power . Batman and his recover allies are urgently trying to find a way to turn back the lunar time period of madness . Even Gotham ’s other malefactor have hunker down down , waiting for the pandemonium to end .

In this week’sDetective Comics#1026 , Batman learn there have been unexpected casualty - and the Joker ’s insanity has unwittingly created a new Monstertown in the sewers beneath Gotham . It seems the Joker ’s clowns , looking to spread some joyfulness , hitACE Chemicals , and inundate the place with toxic chemical substance . It all flooded down into the sewers - where a gang of conscientious dissident had hidden for guard aside from the state of war between the Jokers and the Bats . They were all soaked in the chemical and would have been drowned if not for the intervention of Killer Croc , who had also seek sanctuary in the sewers . Hideously mutated , they became Killer Croc ’s unexampled multitude , the first citizens of Monstertown , and Killer Croc announce himself their city manager .
Monstertown has only a small universe right now - there are only six occupant , named Ratty Riz , Hardback , Gup , Ally , Garter , and Bandit - but they ’re plan on volatile universe growth . They ’ve been kidnap people from the surface , contrive to drop them into the chemical soup now running through Gotham ’s sewer , figuring they can make yet more monsters . Unfortunately , Batman ’s analytical tool swiftly tell him nobody else could survive such extend exposure because these chemicals are seriously toxic .
Naturally , there ’s no style Batman can allow Monstertown to stay ; not least becauseKiller Crocalready has over a half - 12 prisoner he ’s about to unwittingly kill . But the unrequited interrogative sentence is the most disturbing ; what will materialize to this toxic sewage once the rubble has get back from the " Joker War ? " Gotham is hold out to demand to cash out on some major clear - up .
