While playing throughThe Last of Us Part 2,the player often finds themselves stumbling upon superhero trading cards which not only have intriguing origins and plan , but also hold more account relevance than players might intend . It is no secret that Naughty Dog ’s newest masterpiece is a bleak one . It seems their is no lineThe Last of Us : Part 2is unwilling to cross , often whoop it up in its ability to make the thespian contribute toEllie ’s new grisly journeying . In fact , in many guinea pig dark and unsettling action are utilized ( to admittedly great effect ) to further push the games themes and tone . The game is confident in it ’s violent vision , and while there are some playable flashbacks that provide the thespian a short time to relax , the dangerous undertaking is undoubtedly visceral and vivid until the credit roll .
When looking at the story ofThe Last of Us : Part 2,one would not discover it as " lightsome . At first glance , these cards may seem to be a small Easter bollock , paying court to many modern day superheroes . In fact , Druckmann also inserted a uniquereference to theUnchartedseriesinto the game as well . While many of these cards do seem to simply be parodies of other superheroes , Naughty Dog has also created many fantastic designs that brook on their own . Some of the more interesting I include the techno billionaire " brainwave , " the Archer look likewise smartly named " Arch - Enemy , " and the mysterious " Imp " which has a strong resemblance to artistic creation from 90 ’s anime .
Druckmann even left a screaming self - referential Easter testicle one in the form of his own trading carte style " Doctor Uckmann . " According to the card , Uckmann was once an esteemed investigator until he set out running experiments which tested the terminus ad quem of the human body . Some think this was a reference to Naughty Dog ’s rumor report of crunch , but it appears to just be a reference to Druckmann ’s physical exercise regimen .
The fascinating and well think out intent of many of these card is to be expected , but what role do they assist inThe Last of Us Part 2’snarrative ? As previously stated , Ellie ’s raw escapade is one with little compunction and no 2nd chance to those who have wronged her . This grim mood in unceasing throughout her three days in Seattle . Despite this , the trading cards serve to sum up some lightheartedness to what is otherwise an unsettling experience . The cards render a small stop for the player to relax in between all the viciousness that occurs throughout Ellie ’s metre in Seattle .
Overall , the trading circuit card themselves are an undeniably modest portion ofThe Last of Us : Part 2 . Despite this , they inject personality into not only the game ’s character , but also into the biz ’s world . It would be great to see Naughty Dog create even more card in the future . However , unlessThe Last of Us : Part 2receives a story enlargement ( which seems unlikely ) sink with all the lineup in the final game is a fine alternative .
