Introduced inBatman#655 as the son of Bruce Wayne and Talia al Ghul , daughter of the immortal Batman enemy Ra ’s Al Ghul , Damian Waynewas trained from a young years by assassins and intellectuals to be his grandfather ’s successor . When he was introduced to his father , Bruce hoped ferment alongside him as Robin would help inhibit his arrogance and deadly training in hope of a good path . Like other Robin ’s before him , Damian had joined theTeen Titanswhere he became their leader which tot a unique edge to the teenage superhero radical . InTeen Titans Annual # 2 , Damian is confronted by his father Batman over his activity where the Dark Knight chastises Robin and his fellow Teen Titans for going along with this un - larger-than-life behavior . This tender moment becomes the antonym with Damian pummel his father with nose candy and accusation that Wayne Manor is nothing more than a tomb and that he is validation that his Padre ’s methods do not work , citing theinjury and near - death of Nightwingandthe dying of Alfredas his grounds . Yelling at his father for why he does n’t oppose back , Bruce admits it is because he loves Damian and that he knows he has failed him .
Unfortunately , this accession is not enough as Damian denounces his title as Robin , stating that he will never be destitute until he is no longer under his father ’s shadow . This failure may indeed hauntBatmaneven more than any of his previous failures ever will .
