Money Planeis out now on all digital platforms .

This moving-picture show has a jolly sentience of bodily fluid . One of my favorite things about it is that it does n’t take itself too severely . So many natural action movies these days are so grim . This has its instant , but it ’s also , like , " Hey man , rent ’s just have a good time ! " Is that something that describe you to the project ?

It perfectly was . alfresco of working with Kelsey Grammer . I relish the action movies that have an factor of knife - in - impudence . That , to me , induce some of the violence much more digestible . That ’s something that I knew was in the handwriting . It was also something that I knew , if I went there , it would be okay . It was a huge draft spot for me . I grew up loving Die Hard and the Speed movies and Point Break . picture show where you’re able to just change by reversal off your mental capacity , just for a niggling bit . Especially in these times , when everything is so up in the aura and crazy and unprecedented . To be able to just go , " Alright , I necessitate to become my brain off and not think about anything too heavy for a small bit … " Like , right now , I just reveal What We Do in the Shadows . And I just ca n’t wait until I get the lady friend to bed and I can go , " I ’m gon na express mirth for half an time of day about these vampires living in Staten Island . " You know what I intend ? We need that right now . We did this picture show pre - pandemic , but to me , even more so now , we just need stuff like this . I ’d care to think that this motion-picture show could be that , even if only for an 60 minutes and a half .

You bring up the delight , the excitement of develop to act upon with Kelsey . Did he live up to your expectations ?

It really did . That can be dangerous , proper ? Because you do have these expected value . There ’s a little moment of backstory on this . The first show that I ever in truth sit and watched with my mama that I was old enough to grasp its temper and relish it with her was Cheers . Her preferred actor , without a doubt , nobody came close , was Kelsey Grammer . So we watched Cheers and then we see Frasier together . She go past from cancer , and even while go away through chemo , all she want to do was go home and follow Frasier . So that ’s what we would do . She would go through six hours of chemo , and then we would go home and view Frasier , and it would just make her laugh . Doing on the button what I hope this motion picture can do for some people , like that , right ? So when I read the book for Money Plane , and it was fun and interesting . But then I discover out Kelsey Grammer was toy the scoundrel , I was like , " Yup , I ’m in . " I just find out I got gain to worm , something I was told was an impossibility . Then they bring me a movie with Kelsey Grammer attached to it . Clearly , my mom is somewhere , pulling string . Then , to sit there and share view with that cat , I mean , lecture about being a student and commence to go to school . I got to sit around across from him as a peer and hear that voice … I was a small Thomas Kyd again , for a minute . It was just so much playfulness to be able-bodied to pick his mental capacity and look on his process , to see what a pro he was . He ’s just a posh man . It was a really fun experience .

Did you get to , I dunno , take him to dinner or anything , or did you just have to pull as much metre as you could in between proceeds to try and just , like , attend out ?

We did n’t go to dinner party or anything like that . I did n’t want to bombard him , but at the same time , I want to let him know how much I was appreciating this . That was really fun for me . I ’ve been really lucky . If I seem at wrestling , I got team up with Hulk Hogan . I got to worm Ric Flair . Then , in play , I ’ve been able to share view with someone like Kelsey . If you had told 13 - yr - old Adam that all these things would occur , I would say you are absolutely mad .

When you were a kid , did you desire to be a movie principal or a matman ?

Adam Edge Copeland in Money Plane

I never had inhalation to be an actor . For me , it was wrestling from the point I could remember . From the first time I saw it . I can truly say , it crystalize that it was what I call for to do . And that ’s all I ever wanted . That was my full focus . I never had sentiment of acting . It was only this larger - than - life funny Good Book / sway show / athletic carrying into action / theatre / soap opera , all thrown into one fondue pot . To me , that was it . When I was force to withdraw , I had to reasonably quickly come to damage with that . Acting fell in my lap and made it easier to come to term with it . It was still a creative outlet , it ’s still got a originative surfeit . I did n’t get back up . I was able to get those creative juices flowing . And I fell in love with it , I really did . Then I started watching movies and pulling these performances and trying to pull out them aside and understand the layers and option and why they were made . Just like I used to do with grappling match . Then I realized I was becoming as passionate for acting as I used to be for wrestling . That was an Twelfth day . I never thought I would retrieve something I enjoyed as much as I enjoyed wrestling . I just happened to be golden enough to find two thing , when a circumstances of people do n’t even receive that one thing that they love to that extent , and I did .

That ’s great . So , as an actor , well , you ’re doing both now , I ’m happy you ’re back in the ring . But as an actor , you ’ve been " first on the call sheet . " That ’s got ta be huge for you . Do you have a next ambitiousness in this craft , a Modern set of goal posts ?

I ca n’t say that I ’ve mapped out a design , per se . I bang there ’s shows that I love , and I look at display and I look at some of the performance , the stories , and the scripts , and I ’m like … I watch Better Call Saul , and I ’m just like , " Man , that would be fun . " So I guess I just calculate at things like that . I look at show that I ’m a fan of , and then go , " Huh , I wonder if there ’s ever a part … " ( Laughs ) That ’s really how I look at it right now . I have n’t sat down with a battle plan . I ’ve really just order , " Can we keep our ear to the ground on those ? " And that ’s kind of been the extent of it so far , which is how I end up on Vikings and thing like that . It ’s not like wrestling where I had this grand plan that you never cognize can possibly work . Even after nine twelvemonth , I ’m still fairly new at this . I ’m navigating it as I go . But it ’s also really fun , a fun medical prognosis .

When you ’re doing a picture show and you ’ve got a fight scene , and the fight coordinator inquire you to do a signature grappling move , are you like , " Hey , man , c’m on . " Or are you like , " Okay , hell yeah , let ’s do it ! " Are you protective of that , do you compartmentalize the two crafts ?

( Laughs ) It depends on the undertaking , I guess . For Money Plane , it could have bring ! Because of the tongue - in - cheek expression , I think it could have worked . For Vikings ? No . I ’m not gon na hit a fishgig , or dead body slam . Not there . I think it depends from project to project . If it can add an element for the fans watching , to go , " Oh , awesome ! " And it would outfit ? Great ! So I ’d be open to that . Like I said , I think it could have been Money Plane . But it ’s kind of impossible within the confines of the cockpit , you know ? With an worker , Casey , who ’s six human foot six .

I feel like it must be the intimidating matter in the humankind for a director to ask The Rock to do the eyebrow thing.-

( Laughs ) Yeah , in all likelihood !

So , now that you ’re back in hand-to-hand struggle , the hot affair for the retiring yr or so has been WWE vs AEW . It ’s kind of like the aureole twenty-four hours of the mid-1990s , when I was a little fry , when it was WWF vs ECW . I know some mass are happy about it than others , so do you have an opinion on this new , sports fan - focalise Renascence of rassling ?

I think competition in anything is always a good thing . I recollect it forces mass to up their game and not rest on their laurels . I reckon , if I ’m looking at it from the performing artist ’s view , it ’s another place to be able-bodied to ply your trade , and that ’s amazing . That ’s never a risky thing . Just imagine if there was only one studio apartment , if all there was was MGM . I care the fact that there ’s a lot of dissimilar studios , and I call up the same run short for grappling . I think it up everyone ’s secret plan . As a rassling rooter , that ’s never a sorry affair ! To have , you know , a lot of different alternative . Now ’s a great clip to be a wrestling fan . It ’s a really good sentence to be a performer , too . I look at it from the facial expression of , I ’m someone who always wants to be the good . I always require my grapheme to stand out . That ’s even more so if there ’s more competition . in person , I think it ’s a good matter . The era that I grew up , there was all kind of different furtherance . That was always fun and exciting , to go to the local variety entrepot and plunk up these wrestling magazines and see these matman who I ’d never pick up before , but now I knew they were out there , because of these magazines . That , to me , was really fun . Then , when they ’d finally make it to the WWE , and I ’d see them for the first time , I retrieve , " Oh , I kind of know this person ! I make love this part ! " I miss that . I think it ’s changed , by all odds . But the point being , I think competition is good .

Adam Copeland Vikings

You mentioned being a Brobdingnagian fan even as a boy , was there a single person , one grappler , for whom you felt , " I desire to be that guy rope ! "

The first hombre that I remember was Roddy Piper . But as a kid , I did n’t wish Roddy , because he was doing his job . ( Laughs ) He was n’t supposed to be liked ! But then I saw Hulk Hogan , and I was just , like , what is going on here ? This guy wire is the Incredible Hulk number to life ! This guy is Thor come to life ! I could go down to Maple Leaf Gardens , and if I get the right fanny , there ’s a possibility that I can shake that dude ’s hand . It was the energy , it was the eyes , it was all of these things . As a Thomas Kid , I saw it , and something in my brain was either broach or go against . I do n’t know which ! ( Laughs ) It was from that point forward that I allege , " I ’m gon na do this . "
