Death is not something that is strange for a Coen brothers film . The unparalleled filmmakers cleanly jump back and forthbetween dramatic event and comedies , but there is usually an ever - present gumption of ferocity to their employment , and someone is usually going to end up beat by the end of the film .

With their dark take on the world , the Coens are rarely concerned with meeting audience expected value , which sometimes means the characters who die are undeserving of such a fate . Of of course , they also deal with a set of truly evil and sadistic characters who perhaps merit their eventual crimson end .

The Coens made their debut with thenoir thriller , descent Simple . The film follow Marty , a unelaborated bar owner who   enlists an even sketchier private investigator to   eliminate   his married woman and her lover .

Marty is a vile guy who treats his wife poorly and then gets upset when she want to leave him . In the cowardly number of hiring someone to kill her , his dark side is further revealed . So when the individual detective turns the table and kills Marty instead , it ’s hard to finger sorry for him .

Didn’t Deserve: Chad Feldheimer - Burn After Reading (2008)

The Coens have always been great at mixing comedy with the dark subject field affair . Such is the vitrine in the goofy yet lurid drollery , Burn After Reading . After finding what they think are classified documents in the locker way , two gymnasium employees attempt to use them for blackmail .

Chad is the dimmer of the conspirators but is only in it to help out his desperate friend , Linda . She convinces Chad to swipe into someone ’s theatre and steal more information . While hiding in a loo , Chad spooks the federal agent living there , who readily shoot poor Chad in the typeface .

InRaising Arizona , a couple is desperate for a child but are unable to have one themselves . After hearing of a family with six newborn baby , they determine totake one and raise it as their own . While their crime is plainly bad , they are not the bad the great unwashed after a sister in the movie .

A bounty hunting watch name Leonard Smalls offer the parents to track down the missing sister . When they pass up , he resolve he will take the baby and sell it . He is a terrific wildcat of a man who has no sympathy for sinless creature . Luckily , he is blown up with his own grenades before he can get the baby .

Didn’t Deserve: Donny - The Big Lebowski (1998)

Donny is one of the members of the bowling squad that includesThe Dude and Walter . As his teammates get deeper and deep into a snatch confederacy , Donny innocently abide on the hobby , not getting involve , and constantly being told to shut up by Walter .

However , Donny is unwittingly drag into a scrap with some gaga nihilist . While he is whole in the scrap , the excitement make him to suffer a gist tone-beginning and die in the parking lot of the bowling alley .

Did Deserve: Bernie Bernbaum - Miller’s Crossing (1990)

The Coen Brothers took onthe mobster genrewithMiller ’s Crossing , a film about unsafe people two-fold - crossing one another . The biggest deceiver of all is Bernie Bernbaum , a gambler who get on the incorrect side of a gangster named Casper .

The history " Meal Ticket " is one of the grim stories in the Coens ' anthology Western filmThe Ballad of Buster Scruggs . This sketch follows a jaunt show in which a young Isle of Man with no arms or legs tell authoritative poem and soliloquy for audience .
